Kingdom of Beasts 1

Power

It's apocolyptic misery week this week. Just kidding. These pieces aren't normally something I'd go for, but they're well worth checking out. This dude must have quite the jones for religion. Not my cup of tea, but there's nothing wrong with looking, right? And he's got the talent...

Mario Testino Part 1

He is most famous for his portraits of Kate Moss. There are so many in fact that I am going to post a second part to this with just pics of her. In the meantime, here are a few of my favourites. For anyone who can't tell, the guy wearing the lippie is Josh Hartnett, the glamourous lady exiting the vehicle is Kate Winslett and the chicky on the bed is Liz Hurley. As for the woman's ass, I'm not sure who is belongs to.

Food Part 1 - Steven Moeder

I have been dying to do a Food Photography Series as it is my favourite photography endeavour. Steven Moeder has a beautiful website exhibiting heaps of great still lives, many of which are food. He heads away from a naturalist perspective but he creates a whole world of little scenes. It's almost obsessive compulsive, how perfect everything is. Heaps of white light and clean lines. He also has a Black & White (and sepia) collection which goes in a much softer direction.

Jill Greenberg Part 1 - End Times

Prayer

Faith?

She is known for her extra shiny pics of people for adverts and her portraits of stars are almost like charicatures. I'll explore her work in a few different posts, but I wanted to start with this really unsettling exhibition from the Paul Kopeikin gallery. They are so hard to look at. She loves to fuck with us. She named her website, The Manipulator. Keep an eye out for my next post for some of her more comforting images.

Some Conditions Apply

Bruce Monk has some incredible photos, mainly of dancers. His shots have that soft, ballet feel to them, light and graceful, each with so much movement. Have a browse through his official site.

If The Sun Refused to SHINE

This week's deviant is TransientSmile, a girl with a great sense of colour, a sense of humour and a weird thing for pain. There's a whole series of close-up mouth shots that I'll post next week, be sure to check it out!

Alice, the return

Church

This Parisian photographer has a really unique style. I'd love to find out which techniques he uses to achieve his style. He has a very dark perspective and great taste in music.

Paul O'Valle

He is most well-known for his photos of music industry stars such as Ozzy Osbourne, Stuart Murdoch (from Belle & Sebastian), The Distillers and Grandaddy, not to mention the Joanna Newsom photoshoot I seem to be seeing EVERYWHERE now. Check out his official site for more pics.

Nan Goldin

Ivy Smoking in Boston Commons

Cookie in Tin Pan Alley, New York City

She's lived a facinating life and is a remarkable artist. So much so that Ally Sheedy played a character loosely based on her career in a beautiful film, High Art. Check out an interview with her here.
